Hi, I’m Craig Mutton, CEO of Compact Houses on the Gold Coast Queensland.

With experience working in construction stretching back to 1992 and being involved in housing one way or another, for many people ‘getting a foot in the door’ into the Australian housing market is beyond their reach.

The cost of permanent or part time accommodation is hurting Australian businesses too.

Mining companies, holiday parks and similar business who house their staff or provide holiday accommodation are finding out that being able to provide quality accommodation is a fine line between profit and loss.

Over the years, I’ve carried out more construction work than I can remember as a structural draftsman. I then progressed to a site supervisor role in the precast concrete niche and later morphed into Quality Assurance and Safety Management.

Plus, as I mentioned before, the housing market is tough to enter for many people young and older these days. Alternate building materials, practices, and systems need to be used to cut the cost of building, which is a trade off because quality then suffers. It also takes quite a lot of time to build and a lot more money.
